About the video: “Israel Kamakawiwo'ole Brudda IZ, as he was affectionately known, weighed 758 pounds, he was on 6 foot, 2 inch tall. He had been hospitalized several times because of weight related illnesses. He died of a weight related respiratory illness on June 26, 1997 at 12:18 am at the age of 38. All of Hawaii flew the State Flag and half-staff on July 10, 1997 on the day of Iz's funeral, his coffin lay in the Capitol building in Honolulu. He was he third person in Hawaiian history to be accorded that honor. It is said that there were about 20,000 people that attended his funeral, and some gathered and cheered as his ashes were scattered into the pacific Ocean. Iz was the Ali'i of the common people of Hawai'i, a man with a heart bigger then his body. He was a true man of aloha and he will never be forgotten
